Things to do/see in Oxford

Next weekend, I have a child free weekend away in Oxford with my husband. Could anyone recommend anything nice to see or do in the Oxford city centre area? We are not really Harry Potter fans, so we don't want to do that tour but are otherwise fairly open to ideas. Thank you x

The open top tour bus is good, as you get to see the city from a different angle, and can hop on and off as much as you like.

The Ashmolean museum is really good (and free, although they encourage a donation).

You can do a tour of some of the colleges.

I also love the botanical gardens.

You can punt on the river down at Magdalen Bridge.

Lots of nice places on the rooftop of the Westgate (shopping centre) for cocktails and food.

Obviously some of those are weather dependent!

Some niceee shops if that's your kind of thing! Montazuma to stock up on chocolate, Blackwells for books (and a decent music book selection if up your alley!), knoops for a hot chocolate, quirky gift/stationery shops for a mooch. Then the usual White Company/Lush/John Lewis (my faves that aren't available locally but there are lots more!)

Pitts Rivers is a great museum. Cocktails on the roof of the Varsity Club. Coffee at The Cloisters next to the Radcliffe Camera. Walk down the Canal to Wolvercote past Port Meadow from Jericho or down the Isis to see the boathouses. Do a boat trip from Folly Bridge. Lunch at the Head of the River. Covered Market. See if there’s anything on at The Playhouse or the Burton Taylor or the Old Fire Station. Find out which colleges are open to go inside and wander. Go out to Blenheim. Honestly there’s loads, just plan your time.
