I love Marinos fish and chip shop. Such good chips!

I'm not sure that's what you're after but when I go to Rye I always have them.

Simply Italian was fabulous when we a few weeks ago - really lovely people as well as food

Forgottenmyphone · 07/09/2024 19:29

Definitely recommend The Fig for breakfast, and The Cobbles is one of my favourite places for a light lunch.

FrenchandSaunders · 07/09/2024 19:33

I second simply Italian. Also had a fab roast in the Globe Inn.

Mitsky · 07/09/2024 19:34

It’s a probably a drive or cab away but lovely location - The Gallivant for lunch or dinner

Or tillingham, my favourite.

Pottingup · 07/09/2024 19:34

We had lunch at The Old Grain store a few weeks ago and I really recommend the ploughman’s platter.

The Fish Cafe is good for dinner (but not the budget option)

Look at the tiny Mermaid Street Cafe under the Old Borough Arms at the bottom of Mermaid St for breakfast. Maybe lunch.

Layla Mezze and Grill gets v good reviews and always looks good.

I've eaten at Layla Mezze and it was excellent 👌 🙂

Absolutely recommend The Globe inn for a roast. It was amazing and plenty of it. Loved the interior of the Inn, very quirky.

Landgate Bistro for lunch or dinner, very good food plus I remember their elderflower champagne being one of the nicest non alcoholic drink options I’ve had. Also (though not breakfast, lunch or dinner), you should have hot chocolate at Knoops, it’s made with real chocolate and you can choose different types etc. We ended up going every day we were there.

No no no no, the Whitehouse on the high street is the only place for breakfast!

dontseethem · 07/09/2024 22:20

The Whitehouse for breakfast / brunch. I go all the time. The Fig for dinner (book before). Globe Inn for Sunday lunch. You can't go wrong with them - my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Second this. Perfect for brunch - and coffee/cakes too!

Redsparklybucket · 07/09/2024 22:25

The Figbis excellent, Hoof for a burger is a good choice too, simply Italian, The globe, there’s loads of places to eat in Rye, for all
ttpes of pallets and budgets

GonnaBeYoniThisChristmas · 07/09/2024 22:29

The Fig is fab. The owner/chef was on master chef the professionals a few years ago.

cozbeno · 30/12/2025 08:22

Yes agreed we love the fig! Much better chef and atmosphere than landgate bistro
