Or more specifically Castleford . DP needs to get specialist work done to campervan there next week and looking online it doesn’t sound like the greatest place to spend a couple of days . Are there any nice places nearby on public transport where we could stay and hang around (with dog ) ? We don’t especially fancy Leeds as not got huge amount of spending money.

There are direct trains to York which take about half an hour. Shambles Market is quite dog friendly - many stallholders put out water bowls. Betty’s tea room has outdoor seating where dogs are welcome.

You've got Pugneys, Sandal Castle and Newmillardam all grouped quite closely together. Nice places to walk the dog and I think all have a little cafe.

Takes around an hour on public transport, changing in Wakefield.

Check in advance about outdoor seating at Bettys. Don't recall any when I walked past last week. Just the usual queue.
