I am taking my son to Jurassic exhibition at the Trafford Centre in November. Would I be best staying in a hotel at the Trafford Centre or in central Manchester and getting the tram out to the venue?

I’d stay in the city centre, more choice of accommodation and a whole lot nicer than next to a giant retail park, sewage works and M60!

Yeah stay in the city centre and get the tram to the Trafford centre, it’s a direct tram and much nicer to stay in town with better options for food and other things to do.

On the other hand, if it's wet and cold in November and only for one night, there's something to be said for staying at the TC. You have 10 pin bowling and the cinema. Agreed, dining options aren't as good as in the town but plenty of restaurants that are absolutely fine.

There's cinemas and bowling in the city centre and none of the trafford centre hotels are actually in the trafford centre so you'd have to walk there anyway.

The jurassic exhibition is fantastic! My DC loved it. Definitely stay in central Manchester and get the tram in, but Trafford Centre is nice to wonder around and get food once you have finished at the exhibition, it's only a 5 minute walk.

Yes I know but once you're in, you're in. If it was just me, I'd probably stay in the town (but then I know my way around quite well)

Had I been taking my young DC to another city in November, primarily for an exhibition, an overnight stay, some food and maybe bowling or cinema, I'd have chosen the shopping centre. Much more compact.

Obviously if you want cordon bleu food, you're not going to get it in the TC but plenty of decent enough places for one night.

Depends how much other time you have there OP, what kind of food you both enjoy etc

Thanks so much everyone! Think we'll stay in town if its easy to get to the Trafford by tram

While you are there you might want to go to the dinosaur crazy golf nearby and make it a dinosaur weekend

Depends when in November and how long your going for. The Christmas markets typically start mid November and the city centre will be rammed at the weekends. Personally I'd stay at the TC.
