Hello all,

This is my first post, has anybody just decided to pack up and go?

There's nothing holding me to this place, and I want my son to grow up somewhere nicer.
I'm toying with the fact to save up for the rest of the year and finding somewhere to rent and work in Cornwall.
The father isnt involved in my son's life anymore as he's decided to move away and I don't have any family. I am very much alone except for friends.

What do you think? Am I being stupid. Or sod it just go for it?

TIA

What work do you plan on getting there? Cornwall is often low paid and seasonal for employment, so do you have a skill that would be able to work there such as nhs? Rent can be difficult with the proliferation of airbnb and short term rentals.

I can totally understand and think it would be a great place to live, but you need to make sure that it is doable

I moved from the south west to Scotland 25 years ago. Just applied for a job, sold my house and moved to rental, then bought.

I moved but had a job to go to.

Cornwall is very pretty and I grew up in a place very much like this but the pay, public transport, hospital services, tourists everywhere, seaside in winter some of it is absolute shite.

My friend has retired to Cornwall but her DH is from there and they have family and are very well off retirees.
