Hey,

I'm looking for some ideas/recommendations for a family of 4 staying in Cornwall for around 7-10nights.

We're looking into this for August 2025 as I know it can be pricey to stay in Cornwall.

Please any recommendations welcome on best area for families with young children, activities, sights, restaurants etc

Also any budget friendly accommodation options would be welcomed

Thanks all xx

The area around and between Padstow and Newquay is very good for families as there’s loads to do - Blue Reed Aquarium, Lappa Valley, Camel Creek, Dairyland, Newquay Zoo etc… and Blue Flag beaches at Polzeath and Trevone Bay.
Also, the area between/around Looe and St Austell is good too. There’s the Shipwreck Treasure museum, Eden Project, Lost Gardens, Polperro model village and railway…

We stayed at Riviere Sands, the Haven park in Hayle near St Ives this year - we just used it as a base, didn't use any of the facilities etc. You can get a bit of a discount on it if you aren't using the facilities. The caravans are lovely there and it's a perfect spot.

We were there for 5 days and did:

  • Minack theatre
  • Sennen Cove (you can walk to Lands End from there - apparently it's very commercial and has been turned into a kind of mini amusements park but if that's your kind of thing!)
  • Marazion beach & St Michaels Mount
  • Mousehole
  • Eden Project
  • Lanhydrock
  • St Ives harbour & Porthgwidden beach (we saw seals)

We want to go back at some point, probably to the Newquay or Perranporth area, and we'll do things like Newquay Zoo, Fistral beach (we visited on our way down to Hayle and it was beautiful), Perranporth, Blue Reef aquarium, Lappa Valley, Dairyland etc. I think there's a Haven site at Perranporth too.

Perranporth is lovely. There are lots of caravan/holiday parks in the area.
The beach is absolutely stunning and you're not far away from lots of other lovely spots. Mind you, I don't think you can really go wrong with any part of Cornwall. It's all beautiful.
