Lulworth Cove/Durdle Door

Hello,
We have a day planned in the Lulworth Cove area on our way to Cornwall this summer. We'll be there from about 11-4. Is it doable to park at LC and walk to DD and back? Are there any affordable, kid friendly places for lunch around that area or are we best off taking a picnic?
Thanks!

Beautiful place

Yes you can easily walk it in 30 mins.

Take a picnic as what is on offer isn't cheap and it will be very busy so there will be large queues at pubs etc.

@Movinginthesunlight thanks so much -
Really looking forward to it.
Hoping for nice weather - a picnic looking out over the cove would be dreamy.

Bring your swimming stuff too, will be lovely for a dip in the bay off the pebble beach if you're there for a few hours.

I would also agree to bring a pic I and treat the kids to an ice cream from the shop.

There is a large sloping field just before the cove up to the right. It's a nice place to picnic.

There are two lovely nice cream shops in Lulworth cove.

It's an expensive car park just be aware. And It's quite a climb over to Durdle Door and once you reach the top a very steep descent to get down to the door. I can do one but not both.

I think you need to be quite physically fit to fit it in alongside Lulworth cove.

Beautiful part of England.

Make sure you've got water shoes cos the pebble beach is PAINFUL!

I would take a packed lunch. Also wear appropriate footwear as the steps aren't great. I cringe when I see people wearing sliders and flip flops. Use the toilets before you walk across to Durdle Door too.

When I was last there there was a very welcome coffee van at the top of the climb from LC. I must admit I stopped there and admired the view whilst the teens did the descent to DD and back up.

If you don't want to lug the picnic up the hill, do the walk then picnic on the beach in LC.

It’s beautiful, we did it at Easter. Parked at durdle door, walked over to lulworth cove, had lunch in the sun then walked back.
it took a while as I’m very anaemic and waiting an infusion, but well worth doing. Expect it to be busy.
parking was I think about £6 at durdle door x

The Jurassic Coast boat trip from LC to DD is great and you get to see a close up of DD.
