Edinburgh Hotel Recommendations?

Looking to go for a week break this Winter, for our first wedding anniversary. Does anyone have any recommendations?
We're taking our three DC (4-9) so we need a suite or family room really.
Would love a high rise hotel if possible as DC have watched Home Alone and have requested to go up in a lift 😂
Doesn't need to be in central Edinburgh but within an hour or so at most.
Pool would be lovely but not necessary.
Thank you very much!

First question, how are you getting to Edinburgh? Train, car, plane?

The Sheraton has a pool but it won’t be cheap!

Also OP, rough budget per night.

Sorry should have added those details!

We will be driving.

Honestly not sure of budget. Maybe 1/1.5k for the week maximum?

Most central hotels in Edinburgh don't have parking, or if they do it's limited and tends to be charged at £20-30 per day. You can't park on the street as large parts of the city, including all the central areas, are resident's permit parking or short stay pay & display. There are however a number of park & ride car parks on the outskirts of the city which allow overnight parking. You won't need a car in and around the city centre.
The Holiday Inn by the zoo has a pool and parking and it's about 10-15minutes into the city centre from the bus stop outside. Likewise The Village Hotel is a similar distance and has a very good bus service from outside, or the Delta Hotel is probably 30minutes in the city by bus.
In the city centre have a look at the Novotel Edinburgh centre and the Apex Grassmarket.

The Bruntsfield has great family rooms, lovely breakfast and is on a bus route into town

I don’t think it will be in budget but The Scotsman hotel has a separate lift that goes all the way down to the spa in the basement. It doesn’t stop at the reception area and guests wear robes and slippers to go straight from their room to the pool. My two boys loved that when we stayed.

As you mention being within a hour, The Marine hotel in North Berwick is great with children. It also has a lift and a spa. You can get the train into Edinburgh easily as the station is walking distance from hotel. Free on site parking too.

We've stayed at the Adagio on Royal Mile and Residence Inn by Marriott in Quartermile which are aparthotels with kitchenettes. There was definitely parking by the Residence, at a cost.
