I have the opportunity to be in Oxford for one night with DD in the next couple of weeks. What are your top 3 things to do/places to eat whilst there? Can we visit any colleges for example?

How old is your DD?

You will be able to visit the grounds of lots of colleges if you want to. There is a city sightseeing bus tour you can take which is good if you haven't been in Oxford before.

The Natural History Museum and the Pitt Rivers Museum behind it are both good for all ages. As is the Ashmolean. All three have free entry.

If you like books, visit the Norrington Room in Blackwell's bookshop on Broad Street.

If the weather is good, Christ Church meadow is nice. And/or the Botanic Garden.

Someone with more knowledge might be along with more ideas.

You can visit Christchurch College which has typical Oxford College architecture (albeit on a very large scale) and was used for some bits of Harry Potter. From Christchurch it’s an easy walk down to the river to see boathouses and rowers training.

Go see the Radcliffe Camera and have a peek through the gate at All Souls. You can climb the tower of the church just in front of them, for good views across central Oxford.

If the weather is nice you can hire punts (with or without a “driver”) from Magdalen Bridge. But wouldn’t bother if it’s not sunny.

Some nice cheapish eating places in the Covered Market on the High St - also a good place for a short wander if it’s raining. Or Quod or the Ivy for fancier brasserie style. Grand Cafe for brunch.

Thanks @minipie I've added Radcliffe Camera to itinerary. Not interested in punting or places to eat.

You can’t actually go in the Rad Cam but should definitely see it from the outside, it’s the iconic Oxford building. By the way your OP did say places to eat 😆 !

Top 3 things to do….
I would say
Visit at least 1 College grounds.
Walk round the RadCam/Bridge of Sigh's area/Covered Market
Visit Pitt Rivers Museum.

Other things...
Do the Oxford Prison tour
Punting
Eat/drink at the top of the Westgate Shopping Centre
Go up Carfax Tower
Story Museum if DD is young
Ashmoleum Museum if older
Find The Turf Tavern Pub
Blackwells Book shop/Norrington Room

Do you want eating recommendations or not OP? You've said both yes and No!
How old is DD?
