We are hoping to go camping this year.

I was wondering what the best campsite you've ever been to in the UK and why?

We like River Dart Country Park in Devon. Loads for the kids to do on site (playgrounds, slides, a pirate pool and ‘beach’ etc), decent facilities.

Option to pay for other activities (high ropes, climbing, canoeing), but plenty to do that’s included in the camping fee.

Probably Eweleaze for me, although haven’t been back for a few years. The first time we went the light was golden, I remember the kids jumping on hay bales in warm early evening light whilst we chatted drinking ice cold cider.
My husband thinks it is up its own arse so we haven’t been back for a while. We have tried loads of camp sites, none have been “perfect” but we have had a lovely time at all of them!
Trying Nethergong this year.

Another vote for Nethergong. Also in the same sort of area, Folkestone Leas- the one at the bottom of the cliff not the top.

And then in Scotland, RoseMarkie beach- you can sit in your tent and watch dolphins! You're watching them through a cloud of midges-but rough with the smooth!

Depends very much on what you're looking for!

We don't like lots of activities or a noisy campsite so perfect for us would probably be hell for someone else, as this thread seems to demonstrate Wink

I usually go onto UKCampsite and read a lot of the reviews. Some people will give a 10 out of 10 and then say "it said to be quiet after 11 pm but they didn't mind us all sitting together and playing the guitars and singing till a long time after that!"

Green acres in Shepton Mallet near Glastonbury was very chilled and laid back.
Delamere Forest campsite is lovely.

Delamere Forest campsite is lovely

Is it ok now? For years it had a bit of a reputation of the Owners being knobs.

The Secret Garden is really beautiful.

Eweleaze is a bit marmite.. went back again a couple of years ago and it worked for us... But wouldn't stay over the weekend as so much dearer.. its quite expensive too but its in one of my favorite places .

Downshay near swanage lovely and friendly.... No shop if that's a need
Postern hill in Wiltshire.. really relaxed but no fires ..

Town farm ivinghoe beacon... Sometimes feels a bit full at weekends but nice walk along the Ridgeway
