Quickest way to Glasgow?

Hi! I need to get from Cambridge to Glasgow.
I don't drive, so would need to fly, as the train takes too long for this particular mission!

Which airport should I look to fly from, keeping in mind I don't drive?
Thanks!

Stanstead

You can get a direct train to Stansted.

Though do bear in mind by the time you get to airport, check in an hr before etc etc it’s often as quick to get the train to Scotland IMO.

That's a good point! Hmm.

the trains are well over 6 hours with numerous changes (the least change is actually the slowest journey time) so more potential for missing your onward train if one is delayed. I would fly as even with check in and bus into Glasgow city centre I think you’d be quicker and 90min at Stansted is still marginally preferable to 90min at Peterborough station when you miss the connection.
www.nationalrail.co.uk for train times, I think it’s EasyJet for flights but the airport website should have details of routes.

Where you are heading might influence your choice of transport. Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen Street railway stations are both in the city centre. The airport is way out to the west, with a frequent bus service. The journey time is allegedly 15 minutes, but not at rush hour!

Fly from stansted surely.
however if there is a train to Huntington, IIRC that is in the east coast main line and should allow pretty quick trains to Edinburgh. Less so Glasgow.

You need Peterborough or Newark for the main east coast train to Edinburgh but it’s still about 3.5 hours to there plus another hour or more to Glasgow central on a direct train or a change at Edinburgh for the Scotrail service to queen street.

DC regularly flies LGW to GLA, it’s way quicker than the train, and much less hassle.

I would def fly STN GLA, assuming you can get a train to STN easily.

Bus to Glasgow city centre is quick and regular from the airport
