Weekend away recommendations

Hi all. Looking to book 2-3 nights away in the UK for DH and I. We are based in the midlands and only wish to travel 2-3 hours max. Somewhere with lots of scenic walks and good food, a nice town to pop into. Preferably not Yorkshire as our last couple of trips have been that way. Any recommendations? Was thinking Wales to add the coast in but no idea where to start! Thank you

Me and DH went to upper sapey a few years back.
onsite pub absolutely delicious food - best I’ve ever had. Great drinks too.

little lodges with hot tubs. Near Malvern hills so plenty walking to do.

the baiting house is the pub and they air bnb the lodges.

Last year we had a lovely long weekend in Stow on the Wold in the north Cotswolds. We did these walks www.nationaltrail.co.uk/app/uploads/walk_1_chipping_campden_circular_walk_final.pdfand www.nationaltrail.co.uk/en_GB/short-routes/cotswold-way-circular-walk-2-broadway-and-tower/plus a shorter walk in Batsford Arboretum.

Shropshire Hills? Or is that too close to home? Ludlow gives you a nice town, Church Stretton would be a bit smaller. Both are reasonable centres for getting to the walking.

How about going the other way - Norwich is a lovely city for a short break and you could get to the coast (Norfolk or Suffolk) for a day as well if you wanted.

Lake District

More than 2-3 hours from the midlands.

Holt in Norfolk is a lovely town within reasonable distance to coastal walks and seaside towns.

Forest of Bowland?

Depending on where in the midlands and where in the Lake District it could well be within 3 hours.

Buxton? Good town with bars/restaurants/pubs and in the peak district so good walks. Caves are also worth a visit if weather is rainy so walking become too grim
