Is a week long enough at Great Yarmouth

Hi
I’m looking to book a holiday for my family for august , (2 adults , 2 children ) we have to take our little dog too so looking at caravan at seashore haven in Great Yarmouth, this is august and a week is just under £1300 , was going to go for 10 nights but it’s just under 2k so too much really.
I just am wondering if it’s possible to get everything done in a week I haven’t booked yet but it says check in could be as late as 5pm so unsure what would do until then as abit cautious to leave all our suitcases etc in the car. We will be arriving early around 10 am latest . We would want to do the usual seaside activities and go to Hemsby etc for a day , do you think a week is long enough ? We have our little dog so finding pet friendly accommodation has been a pain. Vauxhall park dean comes up cheaper but I’ve heard bad reviews from there and I also believe it’s quite a long walk from everything as the plan is to leave the car by the caravan most days and use land train / bus from haven if we do book there. Any advice welcome

Laughing at the idea you should take kids to North Norfolk instead. What the fuck is there for kids to do up there?! GY beats it hands down if you have kids.

Laughing at your post. Most of our family holidays have been in North Norfolk. I guess it depends on the children but mine love the beaches in North Norfolk. We played cricket, football, frisbee, tennis etc., the kids made sandcastles galore, they swam in the sea in the safe waters. We did the seal trip from Morston Quay, a boat trip from Wells Harbour, crabbing from the quay, visits to the Shire Horse sanctuary at West Runton, the list goes on.

in Wells itself you can swim play make sandcastles on the beautiful beach you can do a harbour tour you can go crabbing get the bus to Sherrington and explore there and go on steam train etc you can walk in the lively woods at Wells you can get coast hopper bus all along the coast so you can go to Cromer wtc you can go to Hunstanton see the seals etc there are even a couple of arcades in Wells so loads to do in North Norfolk much nicer than Yarmouth which is probably OK for a day we stayed there every year as kids 40 years ago

but Yarmouth was very different then

I humbly submit that OP knows what she likes & she likes the look of what Yarmouth offers.
I hope OP Comes back in August to tell us how great her hols were.

Can second the Shire horse sanctuary at West Runton, lovely place to visit.

The Oasis Camel park is under 1hr from Great Yarmouth and well worth a visit .

Lostmymind16 · 24/01/2024 20:36

@Floralnomad I live about 30 minutes from there, I don't know if I'd call it a must see 😂.

Yarmouth is what it is. A British sea side town that has seen better days, but kids like it. Gorleston had a nicer beach. Further up into north Norfolk is nicer generally. But it depends what type of holiday you want.

I’m not a snob by any means but we went to Cromer for a week a couple of years ago and visited GY for a day and I couldn’t wait to leave. Neither could my teens.

It was, hands down, one of the worse places I have visited and made me feel really depressed. The only redeeming thing about it was seeing the Banksy artwork.

Cromer was nicer and easy to visit other places as others have said.

@Lostmymind16 we had a lovely day there a few years back walking and grooming the llamas - love a llama and a camel .
