UK Hotel Recommendations

Hi, I have been looking for a nice hotel for hours and hours for a romantic couple of nights away in the south ish of England! Can anyone recommend a hotel that fits the following criteria:

Not more than £500 for two nights
Ideally a proper hotel, not rooms with a gastro pub
Ideally within 2 hours of London
Ideally romantic

I like The Pig hotels but they are a bit out of price range and also aren't "proper" hotels.

A little bit more than 2 hours from London, but No 42 Margate is really nice.
