We have a family event in the Aberdeen area over a weekend and are thinking of then moving on somewhere else for 4 days the following week.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Don't want to be any more than a 3 hour drive from Aberdeen as we are travelling with children who will already have had a very long drive to her up there in the first place.

We are a group of 10, mix of adults and kids. Happy to have somewhere we can all stay together or separate accomodations close by like lodges/caravans etc.

If anyone can recommend anywhere I'd appreciate it!

Aviemore is a good base, lots of larger properties in the area and loads to do.

Another vote for Aviemore! The McDonald has a range of accommodation including apartments, lodges and hotel rooms.
or if you want to break the journey, a city break in Edinburgh?

I would also say from Aberdeen that Royal Deeside has some lovely places to walk and visit. Ballater is a great base and has a (very nice) large caravan park, or for a smaller place Braemar.

It would be 'on your way' so not much addition to a journey.

There is slightly less in the 'paid attraction' tourism, but the quality and volume of natural places to visit is huge, plus good cafes, shop etc.
