Newcastle?

I'm going to Newcastle in spring and looking for recommendations of things to eat, drink and do when we're there. Khai Khai has been on my radar for a while so will definitely go there. Any other restaurants I must check out there. And are there cocktail bars you would recommend?

muddler, sushi me rolling and Blackfriars would be worth looking at. Have a great time, it’s a brilliant city!

Ouseburn is also a really cute area. You can walk from the quayside. Indie’s, pubs, The Cluny ( live) , vintage and arts.

I asked the same question a while ago and Blackfriars was mentioned then

A French restaurant called 'The French Quarter' near the castle keep is lovely. We go often and have never been disappointed. Small, genuine, lovely food and staff.

Get the Metro to Tynemouth on the coast and go to Riley's Fish Shack on King Edward's Bay. Then take a walk along the coast to Whitley Bay, have ice cream from from Di Meo's and get the Metro back into town from Monkseaton. Enjoy!

Olive & Bean is nice for brunch or just coffee & cake.

Thanks everyone. I'm not sure three days will be enough now! I actually had the French Quarter as somewhere I'd read was good, so great to hear from someone who has been there.

Mother Mercy and Hibou Blanc for cocktails 🍸

Had a couple of very memorable lunches at Cook House in Ouseburn. If it’s sunny at all the outdoor terrace is really lovely and a real suntrap (yes, even in Newcastle).

Also enjoyed Peace and Loaf in Jesmond. Again, very memorable. I’d just been through a really tough time and didn’t really feel like going out but it was booked and I went. The atmosphere, food and attentive service just made me feel so relaxed and taken care I left feeling like all my cares had lifted.

Definitely Blackfriars! Food is amazing.
