What sort of thing are you after? Somewhere in the middle of nowhere or in one of the villages with nice views over the forest? Also what sort of price per night and is it a family trip or just adults?

Hi (kids in bed now!) I'm not too bothered on location. As long as there is plenty to see/do in the area. Views would be lovely but not that important. Also not too bothered about the budget (within reason) It's for me and dh plus dc's 4 and 1. A hotel with a bar would be nice so we can put them to bed and have a drink or 2!

We stayed here about 7 years ago and it was lovely but obviously it might have changed !

careys manor in Brockenhurst is good (nice spa too!) you can walk to pubs for supper, into town, bike hire place just down the road, station to go further afield. Horses just wandering around ... we really enjoyed it.

burley manor is up the road from me,never set foot in the place but I see it offers free childrens places.

If you want a biggish hotel with a lovely spa, I would second Careys Manor.

If you want a character-filled B&B then this place is amazing -- have not stayed there but have eaten in the restaurant. It gets booked up way in advance though.

The Thatched cottage looks lovely too but doesn't mention wether children are welcome. I am swayed towards Careys Manor right now.... but any more suggestions
