Birmingham hotel

Can anyone recommend somewhere for a one night stay in Birmingham? We're going to the theatre and literally just need somewhere to sleep, but I'd like a change from the likes of Travelodge. Need a double room, no parking needed.

We stayed in the Regis Park Hotel in Broad St and it was really nice. Deffo recommend it .

I mean, there are literally loads.

Broad Street is where the clubs are - I've never had reason to stay in one, but have heard it can be noisy.

I’ve found the AC Hotel by Marriott in the Mailbox a good value option, close to the city / theatres but not horribly noisy. Comfy beds, clean, well located.

Theatre then the Raddison is the Hippodrome

Thanks for all of these, I’ll have a look. I think I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express last time and it was fine. Just wondered if there was something more interesting!

I've stayed at the Briar Rose a couple of times. I was really sceptical because it's a Wetherspoons but was really pleasantly surprised. Good value and not at all noisy. It's very central as well, couple of minutes walk from New Street.

If you fancy a teat the stay at The Grand. Make sure you book in for pre theatre cocktails at the long bar. It’s glorious!

TheMousePipes · 23/08/2023 11:02

*treat. Thanks for that, fat fingers.

Pentahotel is quite nice, obviously a chain though. Assuming you're at the Hippodrome or the Alex then it's not far. The Grand is lovely but a bit more pricey.

I'm always a fan of Malmaison, mainly because I like their breakfast!

I personally wouldn't stay at either the Radisson or the Holiday Inn Express on Smallbrook Queensway. Nothing against the hotels themselves but I've always found the area feels a little dicey.
