We are looking at going away in October.

What would people recommend blackpool or flamingoland?

We did look at abroad but prices are too crazy this year

Thanks 😄

Anywhere but Blackpool

Redwinestillfine · 16/08/2023 21:56

Clearly flamingoland. Blackpool's not great.

MojoJojo71 · 16/08/2023 21:57

Definitely flamingo land. Blackpool
is horrible

Flamingoland. Or Ribby if you're looking at the Fydle Coast. You could do a day trip to Blackpool to get it out of your system then enjoy the rest of your break in many nicer areas of Lancs Smile

Blackpool, presuming you want to go to the Pleasure Beach. Stay on the front and it's fine. Go anywhere other than the front and it's shit - I grew up there and still have friends and family there. It's several miles of coastline. Although the zoo and Stanley Park is ok.
As with the entire UK coastline, stay out of the water. Because that's shit too.

Flamingoland. I would not return to Blackpool if you paid me.

I'd say Blackpool due to there being more to do there. You have the pleasure beach, piers with rides, shows, amusements, the waterpark place, the tower, tower circus, aquarium, and zoo, to name a few. Plus the illuminations will be on in October. Blackpools run down, and if you go into the streets off the seafront, you'll see that, but I've never had any issues when I've been, and my DC love the place. It's tacky but lots of fun.

Flamingo land and the North York Moors would be a nice trip, or even up to Whitby

Went to Blackpool with my boys right at the start of the holidays this summer and it was super fun!

Abouttimemum · 16/08/2023 22:25

You don’t say how old your kids are, if it includes kids?

We love both but I wouldn’t go to Flamingoland for more than 2 days unless you’re visiting other areas of North Yorks while there. Blackpool is in the thick of loads of entertainment for kids (we usually stay at Ribby Hall) along that area of coast.

To be honest I’d sack both of them off and go to Drayton Manor and Alton Towers instead, if it’s theme parks you’re after!

Rock vs hard place

mamabluestar · 16/08/2023 22:26

Flamingo land is massively overrated. If you accept Blackpool for all its tacky glory you'll have a great time.

Hawkins009 · 16/08/2023 22:26

flamingoland

Whyohwhyohwhy123 · 16/08/2023 22:39

Flamingo land. The park is ok but the area around is lovely with lots to do

Goodviibrations · 16/08/2023 22:41

Blackpool!

msmatcha · 16/08/2023 22:45

Blackpool Pleasure Beach is fab for all ages. And check out the Winter Gardens and Opera House for shows. And the Illuminations. And the Tower!

monpetitlapin · 16/08/2023 22:51

Flamingoland. You could do a trip to Flamborough Head beach, or Whitby, or Scarborough, or York, as part of a bigger trip.

monpetitlapin · 16/08/2023 22:52

Oh just check if rides are open at Flamingoland in Oct (if you want them) -- the park is open year-round for the zoo but you can't go on the rides over winter.
