Ryan air

I just spent £1200 on a bed and breakfast holiday to Majorca and I was only given the option to fly with Ryan air, I didn't realise you were only allowed to take a small bag with you, do I have to pay to take a suitcase and do I have to pay to sit next to my partner I'm so confused as it won't let me log into my account due to 'flight verification'

Yes you have to pay for a suitcase and to sit next to your partner.

Presumably the flight verification issue is because you booked a package with a third party?

VisionsOfSplendour · 12/08/2023 19:43

I've flown with Ryanair a few times and while they do have strict rules I've found that the are fully explained in their website - are you able to access that?

Anonposter123 · 12/08/2023 19:45

Yes you need to pay for a suitcase and to guarantee a seat next to each other

TropicalTrama · 12/08/2023 19:48

Yes you have for the suitcase and seats. And unlike other airlines that do try to sit you together RA do the opposite and deliberately split you up. Can you bring up your booking on the website?

IWasFunBeforeMum · 12/08/2023 20:14

Can pay for a big bag (20kg I think) to put in the hold or a smaller fee for a larger case that goes in the over head locker. Their carry on size is ridiculously small.

GangleLoper · 12/08/2023 20:19

It was only about £35 a bag when we last went, it’s a budget no frills airline they’re all the same.

user1471464218 · 12/08/2023 20:21

If you've booked a package it might include the case and/or seats together. I booked a package which did.

laakhx · 12/08/2023 22:12

@TropicalTrama do you know if the amount for sitting together is for outbound& return or if I have to pay £30 each way ? Also because I booked through a third party (on the beach) I can't access my booking on the Ryan air website as they are verifying my flight

OP posts:
laakhx · 12/08/2023 22:13

@ilovesooty yes, I booked through on the beach, I'm wondering how long it will take to verify as I'm leaving on the 28th and wanted to see the extra baggage options but can't access anything yet Confused

OP posts:
laakhx · 12/08/2023 22:14

@VisionsOfSplendour yes I can access that but I was a little bit confused as I've never flown with them before and I've always been able to take a 23kg suitcase and hand luggage, guess i will have to pay the extra bits now !

OP posts:
laakhx · 12/08/2023 22:16

@Anonposter123 I was told if you check in together they will most likely put us together, but I won't take the risk as I have quite bad panic attacks on an aeroplane so I would rather be sat next to my partner than anyone else Blush

laakhx · 12/08/2023 22:17

@IWasFunBeforeMum yes I've seen a video of it ! I definitely won't be able to pack for a week in a bag like that I will have to purchase the 20kg extra

OP posts:
laakhx · 12/08/2023 22:17

@user1471464218 do you know what the package was called ?

OP posts:
laakhx · 12/08/2023 22:17

@GangleLoper yes I think it's still at £35 for an extra 10kg

OP posts:
rookiemere · 12/08/2023 22:21

When did you book ? If it's more than a day ago then flight should be confirmed. Once you have the flight reference you should be able to go into Ryan air and pay for extras.
Unfortunately with Ryanair they make a real point of separating you unless you pay to sit together.

laakhx · 12/08/2023 22:30

@rookiemere I booked it yesterday evening at 7pm, hopefully it should be confirmed by tomorrow or Monday as I definitely need to buy the extra baggage and pay for our seats together, I've never known anything like this, it's always been very simple for me and I've travelled a lot !

Knowing the example of a customer who printed the return flight, check carefully as Ryanair will find any reason to make extra charges.

Ryanair £110 check in fee

Ryanair plane

Couple 'horrified' at £110 Ryanair check-in fee

The airline has defended its decision to charge an elderly couple who had mistakenly downloaded the wrong tickets.

You have to do your own verification on the Ryanair app and they charge 59p for it randomly!

cleo333 · 15/08/2023 23:32

Make sure you also print your boarding pass as we've been hideously delayed by Ryan air and people's phones ran out of charge or they did not connect with the devices the airport had . Also Ryan air have changed our flights last minute 2x this year and both were delayed substantially . No explanation at all ( we are currently at Edinburgh airport 2 hours delayed !) . We will never fly with them ever again !

laakhx · 19/08/2023 15:06

@cleo333 thanks for letting me know ! I'm actually dreading it Confused

Verification takes about 10-15 mins. I did it a fortnight ago after gh booked out flights through a third party. Use a mobile phone to do it. it's somewhat annoying.
If you've booked a package it's likely to it's luggage, check with them what you're allowed, read the documents they've sent thoroughly. Often third party bookings or book seats together too. Basically go through your documents from On the Beach in detail.
