Another train strike 26th August

Haven’t been on holidays in ages

Decided to treat my daughter who has been dealing with health issues since 2019 to spend the bank holiday visiting her friends - booked hotels and train tickets but now can’t go.

I know my stay with holiday inn is meant to be non refundable but I will call tomorrow and try to at least move it to another date but how about the train tickets? Do the lines on strike refund the customers?

If your train isn't running you will be refunded. Is there no other way? Some trains will still run, or a coach maybe?

Yea, just checked, I can get refund from thevtrain and go by coach - double the time - and get back by train because apparently it will be running on when I want to get back.
Or maybe I should just book coach return tickets in case they add more days to the strike

Sympathies OP. The strikes always seem to affect our trips.
The unions have to give at least 14 days’ notice of strikes.

Thank you

Do you know if refund is available only from the strike date? or from the notice date?

last summer I had tickets booked for a strike day and was able to apply for a refund even before they’d announced the limited timetable for that day. That was with LNER though and they’re pretty good at stuff like that. Check with the operator or whoever you booked through.

Can you add an extra day to your trip? Or shift it by a day or two? That might solve the hotel problem
