I would like my ds spend a lot of time outdoor
Please where ( not too far) can we go with access to

  • lake
  • some rock climbing
  • adventure cycling etc?

Is there anything of similar quality like Lake District, closer to London?

Thank you

I am not familiar with 'doon south' at all. But I have been/worked/lived:

South Wales - area around Merthyr Tydfil has Bike Park Wales, some more activity providers, as well as the coast with more activity opportunities. Merthyr is not glamorous though. Ahem.

The Peak District - closer than you think, and Hathersage has all sorts of activity providers, including lots of rock climbing and cycling.

Other fun: white water course at Lee Valley?

Milton Keynes has big rock climbing and high wires and lots of cycling paths. There is also a snow dome.

Look up Bowles outside tunbridge wells they definitely do adventure days (ski slope, rock climbing, have a pool etc) or Bewl Water is a lake/country park and pretty sure they’ll do holiday camps. Other options Leybourne Lakes also Kent but more Maidstone direction

Not far from Bewl water in Kent is Bedgebury, where there’s lots of good cycle paths.

Sailing on Bewl water also.
