Or alternatively, any other suggestions for somewhere to stay one or two nights, midweek, in August - en route from North West to South Devon.

Have a 3 year old.

Need it to be budget friendly - happy with a travelodge or similar but would like a nice seaside town, or if not seaside then somewhere with nice parks and things to do with a little one.

We know Dorset fairly well, and also on previous trips have stayed in Clevedon, Burnham on Sea and Portishead which are all options but wondering if there’s somewhere different to try.

It's lovely, beautiful big sandy beach with a little play park on the promenade. Steam train. Dunster castle near by and a slightly shabby but enjoyable zoo (Tropiquaria). There's a very child friendly pub near the beach with a big play area. And of course Butlins, I think you can get day passes if you want to use the pool and fun fair.
