Hiring a car

We’ve booked the cottage and the flights for our Inverness holiday for the last week in August. Can I hold off on booking the hire car for a while, or is it like flights now in that the later I leave it the more the cost will go up? It’s 11 years since we last hired a car for holiday travel. AFAICR, it didn’t make a difference back then but I’m wondering if things have changed since. Any pointers would be gratefully received ☺️

Yes they go up in price and you get less choice, in my experience

ooh, watching as also pondering this. I need a car hire in August too, found a price which was ok, so maybe I should just book...

if you know you'll need one then book now because they've been in short supply the last couple of years and prices will no doubt only go up. Avoid Green Motion and Easirent. Arnold Clark always rate highly from their Scottish bases if there's one in Inverness.
