Bath or somewhere else

DH and I are hoping to get away for 2/3 nights at the end of July/beginning of August. We quite like the look of The PIG hotels, especially the one near Bath. Has anyone stayed there recently? Is splashing out for The Hide worth it?

Or any other suggestions of hotels near Bath? Or different place to visit? I really want a nice luxury hotel with some interesting places to visit nearby.

Budget is decent and flexible but not infinite. We are not completely decided where to visit but we are on the SW London/Surrey border and will be driving, within 3-4 hours drive would be ideal. We have spent quite a few holidays in the New Forest area and around Swanage with the children, so definitely want to go somewhere different and new to us this time.

I've only eaten at The Pig in Bath. It is short drive from a paintballing wood so you'll often have quite a few kids there at the weekend (either before or after a birthday party down the road). The food is good and the walled garden is lovely.

A less "rustic" luxury hotel would be Lucknam Park (to the east of Bath, not far from the motorway) https://www.lucknampark.co.uk/

Also have a look at Bath Priory

Stay in one of the huts at The Fish in the Cotswolds. Loads to do nearby.

I stayed at the Pig near Bath on my birthday and it was fabulous! I'd love to go back, definitely recommend it.

I’d never heard of The Fish until last night, but like the look of it.
