Booking Accommodation Directly With Owners?

Hi all,

I'm looking to book private accommodation for a short family break in Blackpool. I came across this lovely holiday home large enough to accommodate myself, my kids and mom and dad. The holiday home looks very luxurious and I'm keen to book.

On Airbnb, it is a bit out of our price range but I found a website where you can book directly with the owners and book it at a reduced rate.

My question is have any of you booked holiday accommodation directly with the owners and has it given you a better experience in regards to your break?

Speaking as an owner - most of my bookings are directly with me. I much prefer it and I can be much more flexible with dates and pricing as I don't have to pay the 15% commission booking. com charge.

As a guest I do what you have done - if I find a property on Airbnb or Booking then I try and find a way to book direct with the owner.

If you are looking for some protection, then make sure you are able to book using a credit card.

Used to work in hotels. Always told people who had booked via Booking.com to contact us direct as bc charge 10% to hotels

Yes as much as possible, it saves on booking charges for the owner and me. I would never use Airbnb, they are totally unscrupulous.

I have a holiday let in Cornwall. It’s 30% higher on air bnb than with my agent.

The agent is 18% higher than a private booking.

A week in august is £800 cheaper booked direct!
