DP, Ddog & I are going to Scarborough for 5 days next week. We're staying in a lovely airbnb close to the centre.
We're planning on going to Whitby & Saltburn by the sea and getting out to explore.

Recommendations for places to eat and visit gratefully received.

Take a detour via Robin Hood’s Bay on your way to Whitby, and a detour via Grosmont on your way back. Tea, Toast and Post is a lovely little dog-friendly cafe in RHB.
Dalby Forest is lovely for a long walk and picnic.

Sandsend - the beach is fantastic and the fish cottage does great food.

Saltburn is absolutely lovely - Valley Gardens is nice for a walk and full of wild garlic at this time of year. There's a lovely little cafe hidden away there too. The beach is huge and backed by the beach huts (which all have human names) and cliff railway.

For fishing villages, both Staithes and Robin Hood's Bay are worth a visit.

South of Scarborough, Flamborough Head is nice for a walk - the cliffs are stunning.

Inland you could head to the moors - the Hole of Horcum or the Bridestones are good for dog walks.

Enjoy - it's such a beautiful part of the world.

Depends what you like really. Avoid town centre at night, pretty rubbish during the day too.

North Bay nicer than south bay although Italian gardens and espplanade are nice.

Bellyrub cafe is dog friendly.

Cayton bay beach is nice,
Filey is nice in a retirement kind of way. Glen gardens in Filey.
Peasholm park in Scarborough is lovely, over a hundred different species of trees.

Bempton cliffs for RSPB bird watching

The Harbour Bar on Scarborough seafront opposite the Harbour- retro establishment that’s a local institution for ice cream, knickerbocker glories and cola floats.
Thornton le Dale near Pickering is pretty with thatched cottages and nice pubs.

If you go to Whitby don’t fall for the hype at the famous Magpie fish and chip cafe. It’s nice but we preferred Hadleys near the station.

In Scarborough itself suggest a walk round the Marine Drive between bays, a visit to the castle (interesting and amazing views), a stroll around Peasholm Park and the Italian Gardens .

If you're after evening entertainment, check out Stephen Joseph Theatre, The Spa and Hollywood Plaza cinema .

We are very spoilt for eateries . Definitely second Harbour Bar for ice-creams and sundaes! For meals it really depends what you are looking for, but here's a range
Homely pub with delicious carvery: The Albert
Curry: Tikka Tikka
Chinese: Kam Sang
Turkish: Az or Lezzet Bistro
Fine dining: Clarks
Italian: Pomodoro or Gianni's
Fish and chips: Lifeboat and Mother Hubbard's , North Bay Fisheries for takeaway .

Have a great time!
