visiting with some elderly folk so nothing too adventurous!

Ride the Talyllyn Railway on a clear day for some gorgeous scenery. Another lovely train trip is the Cambrian Coast Train, especially the stretch from Machynlleth to Aberdovey and the run across Barmouth Bridge.
I’d definitely recommend a visit to Dyfi Osprey Project which is only a short drive from Aberdovey. Also, if you’ve got time, go to watch the red kite feeding at Bwlch Nant yr Arian Visitor Centre. It’s at 3pm in the summer.
Seabreeze is a well-recommended sea food restaurant that does a very decent posh fish and chips. Also, make sure to visit The Sweet Shop Aberdyfi for some gorgeous homemade ice cream.

@Fivemoreminutes1 thanks so much. We are already booked on the Tallyn railway - will check out the other places now.

Trefeddian Hotel for drinks or afternoon tea...lovely views from the lounge or outside.
Gin distillery in Corris.
Sea Breeze is lovely...also Salt Marsh in Tywyn.
Coast does lovely food but very small.
Prebook as much as possible as it gets busy.

Britannia Inn does good food. A drive out to the Ty'n Y Cornel restaurant on Tal-y-Llyn - on the Mach Loop so look out for low flying planes!

Food Aberdyfi itself is not amazing. There's one Chippy. Coast deli can be ok. For a fabulous meal head to the Saltmarsh kitchen in Tywyn, Hannigans Top Shop chippy in Tywyn is also good. You don't need anything to do other than walk down the lovely beach or along the front (if you have good weather) and enjoy the views. Lovely ice cream available at the sweet shop in Aberdyfi.
