Thinking of a trip to the Lake District for 3 to 4 days. I have never been and looking for recommendations of where to visit and nice hotels or B&Bs to stay ? Planning on staying in different places each night I think to see more of the area

Well my favourite town is Keswick. I love Borrowdale valley, some lovely walks in the valley. Can keep driving over Honister Pass and then round Buttermere.

Ambleside and Grasmere are popular with tourists.

The Old Dungeon Ghyll hotel is a classic walkers’ hotel and near some great walks.

Windermere is nice but Keswick is stunning, my favourite spot in the Lakes.

It’s beautiful but very busy in the summer if you can avoid peak times.

The Sun Inn in Hawkshead is a lovely, small boutique hotel. I prefer the South lakes as its less touristy. Grange over Sands is very pretty.

Another vote for Keswick
