Where areas to stay in London near Buckingham Palace

Im hoping someone with more knowledge of London can help here? My daughter has her Duke of Edinburgh’s presentation at Buckingham Palace 😊and I’m wondering where is a good area to stay for one night with easy transport links to the Palace and the main train stations (we don’t really know London). It would be nice if it was an area with some reasonably priced accommodation (either hotel or Airbnb but I can look for that myself) and places to go out to eat/drink. We won’t have much time/energy for general sightseeing so other attractions aren’t really a consideration. Very grateful for any thoughts, thanku!

Westminster is close and there are premier inn hubs 10min walk to the palace.
Victoria is good for the palace and has loads of options at all prices.

Try the hub by premier inn at both westminster and st James. Excellent, well priced hotels. Both a short stroll away. Lots of places to eat on nearby Victoria St.

What's your budget and we can make suggestions. One person's reasonable can be £300 another ones can be £70

Where will you be travelling into london from, also will that be by car or train?

Clapham junction and Balham both have Travelodges really close to the station. Then it’s a 10 min direct train to Victoria, which is the closest station to the palace

it will be a lot cheaper to stay there than in town but a very easy and quick journey

Westminster or Victoria will be close, loads of food places nearby.

I just wanted to thank you all for your ideas and let you know how we got on. I started looking at Westminster but it was expensive. The Premier Inn hubs looked good but I wanted a room you can hang out in. Clapham/Balham handy & cheaper but in the end I went for Southwark because it was on the circle line & had open space/attractions we could walk around direct from the hotel on our second day. We had a brilliant time & it was so helpful to have a jumping off point for making sense of locations. Thanks!
