Hi

I'm looking to book an afternoon tea for a special birthday. What is the best place you have been for afternoon tea in the South of England?

Thanks everyone

The south of England is huge!!! Can you narrow it down to maybe south east or south west? Or 2 hours drive from...

Rosemary2022 · 30/04/2023 21:58

Of course! Thanks.

Ideally no more than 2hr drive from London.

London has lots. You need to narrow your field.

The Savoy does a lovely afternoon tea. Don't forget to tell them when booking, that it is for a birthday celebration.

The grove, Watford

During afternoon for 2, is it improper to order second pot.

Sorry Tea for 2

Depends. Some places give more sandwiches. Most places will give more tea. The best places will give more tea, sarnies and scones at least.

My BIL at The Savoy asked for an extra round of sandwiches - 'same again please' and they didn't blink, just kept them coming. Excellent service and quality.

The Wolesley does a lovely tea, with the good silver teapots etc but actually a more relaxed feel.

Browns of Mayfair is very comfortable and nice - low-key loveliness.

The Ritz is good but is a bit stiff. Nice loos, though.

We loved the Rosewood’s afternoon Tea. It was themed on a specific artist - so that may/may not work

The Royal Crescent Hotel in Bath

Thank you all for your assistance. Yesterday we were treated shabbily after ordering second pot. It would hurt my heart to think I had done something offensive. You have been very helpful.
