One-night break next weekend

DH and I might have the chance to get away without the children for a night next weekend - not something that has happened since before DS1 was born.

It would be for the Sunday night. We live on the SW London/Surrey border and have easy access to the A3/M25. I’m the driver and would prefer to be within 2 hours drive (plus we need to be back by 12 noon on the Monday and I don’t want to be up with the sun to get back).

So any recommendations for where we go? DH will want ‘to do something’ - by which he means visit an garden or historic house or museum or historic place of some sort. I’d prefer just to spend time together and have a nice dinner and a night in a luxurious hotel. Budget is reasonable and flexible.

Watts artists village and tea room in Compton for your DH’s something to do, and stay in the Aviator in farnborough. I would have said the withies but it’s shut on Sunday nights.

Stay at Great Fosters and a day out at Hampton Court?

Or a night at the Spread Eagle in Midhurst and walks in the South Downs and a trip to Woolbeding?

Hintlesham Hall is lovely. Loads of things to do nearby or en route. We stopped off at Colchester Castle.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately it looks like this weekend is not happening, but I’m really hoping we can get away in July when we have another chance of a child-free weekend.
