Longleat Safari

We are aiming to do Longleat over the Easter break (at the minute thinking the Thursday or Friday after Easter).

When booking the tickets I have to pick a drive through safari time so just wondering would we be best picking 10am when it opens and getting the drive through bit done first or waiting and choosing the last slot of the day

I haven't been in years and obviously I know things are different but just wondering if anyone has any tips for the day. Thank you!

I’ve always done the drive through first that way it’s a perfect time for lunch before you tackle to rest of the park

Personally I would opt for the bus tour rather than driving your own car through. You get a better view and you can go through the monkey enclosure safely - if you take your car through the monkeys, they will damage it.

We did the safari at end of day - perfect way to finish.

I would say safari first is best, because the animals are more likely to be out and visible early on and it leaves the rest of the day for exploring the grounds.

Just to add, the monkeys are not the only ones who damage- watch out for the deer in closure too, they sell you food to feed them, but then they come up and jump with their front legs up against the window for the food. MIL car sustained quite abit of damage from deep scratched from their hooves on her passenger door!

as others have said, the monkeys literally rip your car apart, the one time we went through in our car we lost the window wiper nozzles(where the water comes out) and the wipers. They’ve been known to rip trim off, parking sensors out, Ariel’s off etc!

take the option of a tour in another vehicle if you afford that option!!

Just to add, you can skip the monkeys if you are driving through, but then you're missing one of the best bits of the safari tour.

I've been three times in three different cars and not one of them has come through unscathed, which is why the last two times I went on the bus! It's £8 per person, under-threes go free. Well worth it.
