Lake District?

Hi all,

Looking to book a family stay cation for me, DP & DD who will be 16 months old, before our little one arrives in august.

Preferably early June, and heard so many lovely things about the Lake District so looking to go there.

If you have ever been, which part do you recommend staying at? Is there things to do? If so, what do you recommend?

We will be travelling from Glasgow, so I did check we can get the train.

Thanks 😊

The Lake District is a fairly big well spread out area and so ideally you would want a car to properly explore it.

Do you know where your train arrives at as that will influence your options. I would stay in one of the bigger places if you have no car.

Train to Windermere ?

Which is quite a large village so lots of cafes etc , right on the lake , and on the local bus route to go elsewhere

In terms of things to do - it's heavy on outdoor activities - walking mostly . You'd be able to get a ferry across Windermere if my memory serves

What sort of things do you want to do?

The lakes are beautiful. They’re an aquarium near Windermere that your little one might like and the steam railway.
Agree with pp that’s it’s quite vast so without a car you may be limited.
Theres boat tours too of course!

Thanks all for your recommendations and tips! We have decided to book Aviemore instead. My parents and sister and her family went last year and recommended it! Loads to do for little one and lovely beach and walks close by! Xx
