Dog friendly Scotland

Where would you go in Scotland for a dog friendly holiday? I love the outer Hebrides but not sure I’m up for that drive at the moment, so looking for some recommendations of places a bit easier to get to.

I assume you’re coming from the south if you don’t want to drive as far as the Hebrides?
ayrshire (check if there’s any restrictions for dogs on beaches in the summer months)
Arran
scottish borders
Crieff
Callendar

Mull of Galloway
Kyle of Lochalsh
St Andrews
I like a beach!

Even East Lothian might suit - good beaches, nice little market towns like Dunbar and North Berwick, easy walking, good cafes, you could get the train into Edinburgh for a day trip if your doggo would cope with that......

Dumfries and Galloway, easy to get to - left at the top of the M6 onto the A75 which travels for miles along the coast. The Gulf Stream makes warm, lots of interesting coves and beaches, the Galloway National Park and Sourthern Uplands way for your dog to play in.
Mind you every other dog here is a beautiful Spaniel!

Never stayed at Craig Tara but I did come here to recommend the West Coast/South Ayrshire. Culzean, Turnberry lighthouse, Belleisle, Robert Burns, Rozelle, beaches etc.

Most eateries are dog friendly and many good options such as Gro, The Growler, The Savoy park, Cafe 51, Remedy, The meridian, Barefaced, Souter Johnnies, Buckley’s.

Train to Glasgow a few times an hour.

I agree on Galloway being a fabulous holiday destination.
