Half term hotel break

Can anyone recommend somewhere not too far from London for a couple of nights in a hotel that has family rooms?

Looking at Southend on sea, but not too sure about going in February.

The Legoland hotel is still pretty spectacular even in off-season. We stayed there even when the park itself was closed and it was gorgeous with loads to do inside the hotel but also Windsor is lovely
