York dungeon

I’m planning a half term break to York for me and 10 year old. Does anyone know how scary the dungeons are? My ds is a big history fan but has had nightmares in the past from scary stuff - blood and guts is fine, spooky ghosty things are not! Thanks

I first took DD there when She was 8, and she was a little scared in one part. A 10 year old who scares easily won't like it, but it sounds like your DS might be OK.

If he like history you must visit the castle museum.

Thanks, I’ll put the castle museum on the list!

I went with a group of Cubs (not my choice!) so aged 8 to just turning 11 and some of them were terrified and had to be escorted out with their eyes covered. There was a bit at the end where you sat in a room and they decapitated someone and when the lights came back on one was sitting on my knee!! It was the older ones who seemed more affected by it than the younger ones but I wouldn't say it's particularly suitable for primary school aged kids.

Castle museum and Jorvik centre and good for that age. For a treat take them to Betty's for a cake!

Thanks all. Castle museum instead then I think! Betty’s is also a great call.
