Train to Heathrow planning Help!

Need to get to heathrow terminal 4 and trying to work out the trains,
so far I have a train to kings cross then will need to take the underground direct to Heathrow? 1hr trip
Heres what I dont get - looking at LNER I can book direct to kings x for £115 return 2 people or to heathrow rail it goes up to £320?

TFL website has the uderground fares at £22 return for 2people, so why is it so much more £ buying it all together with LNER?

Never been to London/used the underground so probs missing something obvious. 😕

Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks

That is probably Heathrow express
Go to King's Cross then tube it's very simple

Piccadilly line goes straight there

So the tickets to kings cross are fine then I can just buy tickets on the day for the undergrnd?

Or Elizabeth Line

You can just use a contactless card on the underground - you need to tap in and out with the same card
You will both need to use a separate card

Otherwise you can buy oystercards and load them with money at the machine

Heathrow Express (train) costs a lot more and imo is a total rip off. As others have said, just get your tickets to Kings Cross and then use a contactless or Oyster card to take the Piccadilly Line.

Yes just get your tickets to KX and then use a contactless card to go on via the Piccadilly Line. I wouldn’t faff about even w Eliz Line and def not Heathrow Express - so much walking and changing trains and barely faster.

Elizabeth Line would be a surprisingly fiddly trip from Kings Cross, as a tube newbie with luggage probably easier just to sit on the Piccadilly line all the way there.

Thanks all. Tickets to kings x then buying tickets for the undergrnd seems like the best plan.

Only thing to be aware of is Kx is a big station - it’s easily a 10-15 min walk from your mainline platform to the Piccadilly line platform. I think there’s a life for some of it, but there’s definitely stairs down to the underground itself. Just one to think about if you’ve got a lot of luggage

Lift not life

Thats good to know, will look at 20min+ to leave between trains.
Thanks
