Days out in Devon / Cornwall area?

We have hired a lovely cottage for the week in Devon, starting Friday.

We are going to do The Eden project for a day, probably go to Plymouth for a day and crabbing in Salcombe.

Thats about all I know to do around that area! Does anyone else have any ideas?

(btw, DD is 5 and DS is 3).

Bump - but where in Devon?

BettySpaghetti · 04/02/2008 21:17

Pennywell Farm in South Devon is excellent.

Would recommend Lynton and Lynmouth, very pretty area, cliff train, the cleanest fish and chip shop i've ever seen!

Where exactly in Devon

For animals: Paignton Zoo, Torquay sea life centre, Plymouth aquariam, Miniature pony centre.

For soft play. Rainbow fun house in Torquay or there's a new one Bear Feet in Newton Abbott which looks good.

For parks/outdoor stuff. There are loads of good parks and Country parks which have children's playgrounds/poetry trails etc. for example Stover country park near Newton Abbott, Haldon forest park between Exeter/Teignmouth.

beaches, of course. Totnes for the alternative vibe and lots of child friendly coffee shops.

castles at Okehampton, Totnes, Powderham.

My 10yo ds really rated Dartmouth Castle after a school trip. There is a great aquarium at Plymouth, really worth a visit.

Sorry guys, should have mentioned where. The cottage is in Kingsbridge.
Thanks for the suggestions.

I don't know how close this is to where you will be staying, but it was a wonderful day out. Ds1 was 3 or 4 when we went.

Plymouth aquarium is good - and indoors! - and you can use Tesco clubcard deals.
