London

I would like to take my 8 year old to London for a few days.

He's never been and I have only ever been a couple of times. We will be getting a train to kings cross station.

I would like to do the usual tourist stuff, London bridge , Buckingham palace etc.

He loves to stay in a premier Inn. Where would be a good premier Inn for seeing the sights?

What places would you recommend we go to? Museums etc.

Many thanks.

Look at some of the Premier Inn Hubs - there’s one in St James’s, I believe.
The science and natural history museums are great (get there at 10 am for the interactive part of the science museum). Take him on an Uber boat to Greenwich too - that’s fun. Borough market for lunch and a walk along the south bank to the London Eye/Westminster Bridge. Covent Garden for street performance. Chinatown for Bao buns or a Chinese.
Look on central tickets for some cheap ticket offers for shoes etc.

We stayed at the Euston premier inn recently. Very convenient for travelling around as you could walk to King's Cross and st pancreas too easily. Also cheaper than the King's Cross premier inn which was just down the road. We went to museums and also Harry Potter studio tour easily from there.

Shows, not shoes!

He might be a bit too old for the transport museum in Covent Garden now but worth having a look. My 9yr old loved the postal museum recently - lots to do/play around with (ditto transport museum).

I think it's tower bridge you want rather than London Bridge.

What about museum of London if he's done the great fire of London at school. We did a tour of all the places run my museum of London too. Also the monument was a big hit (lots of stairs!)

Have a super time x

Premier inn county hall is in a great location, opposite houses of parliament and by the london eye. Right on the river and lots going on around it.

Thank you for all your suggestions 😃 x

You could get an open top tour bus to show you the sights you won’t have time to go into- Westminster, Whitehall, St Paul’s, along the river.

There is so much to see in London but it can be exhausting getting between places (I live here!) so choose what to actually do, carefully.

it depends what he is into?

The Museum of London is closed down. They're rebuilding it at Smithfield, due to open in 2026.
