York break

Planning a night in York for next September with my mum and sister. Looking for recommendations for nice but reasonable pizzas places for the evening and tapas places or similar for lunchtime?

Know where we want to stay so that's sorted, but any hidden gems/ ideas for what to do during the day? Maybe a nice place for tea and cake, interesting walks, anywhere for daytime cocktails?

Is the ivy worth it for cream tea or anywhere else you'd recommend?

Dough-eyed for pizza

Brew and Brownie for brunch - often a queue so recommend getting there 5 mins before opening

Bettys for tea/cake

Betty’s is the only place to go for tea and cake! Actually, a fat rascal instead of cake! They also do a super cream tea.
Btw, did you mean cream tea or afternoon tea?
If you meant cream tea, then definitely Wheldrakes. Other good cafes are Gatehouse Coffee and Brew & Brownie.

Rowntree museum chocolate thing was fun

Definitely Brew and Brownie for lunch/tea and cake -it's opposite the museum gardens so a wander there is nice . You'll queue but it's lovely.
Gatehouse coffee also recommended.
Flori bakery (Thursday -Sunday) for amazing early morning pastries.

Ooh thanks all, some good ideas here that I'd not considered.
