Hi
I'll be in Gloucester over the New Year weekend ...Friday to Monday in an apartment near the Docks
Anyone got any food tips ...places to see in Cotswolds ...country pubs ?

The best pubs not too far from Gloucester are The Green Dragon Inn, The Frogmill and Seven Tuns. If you like walks, there are some nice options in Woodchester Park and Westonbirt.

Gloucester Cathedral is on my 'places to see' list.

Harry Potter tour at Gloucester cathedral. If they're not running it then it's still worth a look as the cloisters are lovely and part of Hogwarts. Gloucester jail if it's open that week.

If you're staying at the docks then there's all the chains, Wagamama, Ziizzi etc also a good Greek restaurant there, Greek on the Docks and the Italian Setebello is lovely.

As for other things to do - the Forest of Dean is on the doorstep, Malvern Hills 40mins. Cotswolds on doorstep too - pop to Stroud or Cirencester for a wander. Tewkesbury Abbey.

Gloucester city centre away from docks is old and interesting but the shops are rubbish.

Cotswolds - Broadway is pretty and has nice pubs. Afternoon tea at The Lygon Arms is a must (need to book).

Broadway tower is popular but I don't get the appeal as it's a folly with an expensive shop and too many people!

National Trust Newark Park is nearby and that's interesting. Croome Park too. The Rococo Gardens at Painswick.

YY to The Seven Tuns at Chesworth if you want a very old proper country pub.
