Have the opportunity in few weeks to spend the day in Birmingham. Will be staying near airport. Any recommendations what to do?

Depends on who 'we' consists of (dc? ages ?) and budget and what you like doing of course, but the Bear Grylls Adventure is supposed to be very good.

If you haven't been to Birmingham before though, I would suggest getting the train in to the City Centre (there is a station called Birmingham International, at the airport) and "doing" the City Centre.

Again, depending on what you are interested in - there are 3 Cathedrals, plus St Martin's in the Bullring, various shopping areas, some nice architecture around various squares, more miles of canals than Venice, more Michelin starred restaurants than you'll find in most places, or the Balti Triangle a bit out of the City, Bham Museum and Art Gallery, the New Library with a viewing area across the City, and a lovely Shakespeare Library, BBC Museum in the Mailbox. Much more than enough for one day. Or wander out to the Jewellery Quarter if you've not been there before.

The Christmas Market will be on then too, and (haven't checked this year) but they often have a big wheel thing and ice rink etc for that time of year.

Plenty of theatres - including things from the Birmingham Royal Ballet to Musicals to Panto , concert halls, plenty of venues for gigs. Just depends what you are after really.

Thank you Kite
Myself and pre teen DD. Never been Birmingham before.
Xmas markets definitely sound like an idea and thanks for other suggestions. I will look them up see what realistically fit in one day. Ryanair might dictate what can actually buy!
