Restaurant in Edinburgh

Booked a little trip for a special birthday, we arrive in Edinburgh on a Monday at the end of November. Looking for somewhere nice to eat the next day. Not too posh as we won't be dressed up (nice but not suits and dresses).

The scran and Scallie in Stockbridge. Some things on the menu sound like ordinary pub grub but they are way above that standard. Stockbridge is a lovely area to wander round . You can easily walk there from Princes street

Are you staying in the city centre? Any preference for type of cuisine?
Howies on Victoria Street or Waterloo Place
The Outsider on George IV Bridge - ask for a table with a castle view.
