London Visit Location...

I'm taking my DC 7&10 to London after Christmas. My eldest has always wanted to go. We are from a coastal town in Wales so really have no idea on the best places to stay in London. Obviously I've researched, but I'm still none the wiser Blush There's a lovely place near Hyde park, would this be ideal?
We're hoping to go into an Airbnb, would like to see all the sights on the bus hopper and the natural history museum, London eye etc.
I'd be grateful for any advice.

Thank you

Hyde Park is pretty central assuming you want to do the big sights - Buckingham Palace, Tower and the South Ken Museums. A trip on the uber river boats might be fun too. At that age my DC enjoyed getting the DLR from Bank to West India Quay (sit at the front of the train and pretend you are the driver) and then visiting the Docklands Museum which has a lot of interactive stuff. We'd then DLR to Greenwich Market for lunch and get the boat back to Westminster Pier.

I’d stay as central as you can and have at least a basic timetable before you go.

For instance, you need to book specific times for the Natural History Museum & the London Eye. How long are you going for?

Think NHM is not timed entry any longer, unless there is an exhibition. Hyde Park is very central but you may prefer to be more south-side (Hyde Park Corner/Kensington)than north-side(Marble Arch/Notting Hill) for accessing those particular sites, although connections generally are not difficult.

I’d stay in Covent Garden or near borough market
What’s your per night budget?

youtwoandme · 25/10/2022 15:59

Gosh! I'm so sorry I haven't replied Blush ... Hoping to spend 3 nights, 4 days. We've budgeted for around £150-£200 per night. I've found some good past threads on here regarding location also (probably should have done that first).
Thank you for your replies 🙂
