Stratford Upon Avon restaurants

I’d appreciate restaurant recommendations in Stratford upon Avon for all price ranges please! I’ve looked at lots of reviews and there seem to be lots to choose from. This is my first trip with DH sans children in 12 years so happy to go somewhere with good cocktails that caters for adventurous palates!

Sabai Sabai

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 18/09/2022 13:38

Thanks! I was looking at that one and Giggling Squid as I love Thai.

RSC's The Rooftop Restaurant is one of my favourites in the UK.
Lamb's in Sheep Street is good too.

Strangely, Stratford isn't all that great for restaurants.

Lambs is good for meat/fish eaters but not great for veggies, in my experience.

There's a Michelin starred place, Salt, but I haven't been yet.

Sabai Sabai for reasonable but not world-beating Thai.

We really enjoyed Edward Moon when we visited a few months ago.

If you’re in the car, The Baraset Barn, just outside Tiddington, or Aladdin’s in Tiddington is a good Indian.

Veeno is a good wine and anti pasti bar.

TheIsaacs · 18/09/2022 19:52

Also, there’s a good new cocktail cafe called, funnily enough, Cocktail Cafe.

We loved El Greco the Greek restaurant, definitely recommend!

Wallabyone · 18/09/2022 19:53

If you'd like a nice casual lunch, Tzatziki does tasty Greek wraps and pittas and has a nice garden.

MusicOfTheTraffic · 18/09/2022 19:55

I second Sabai Sabai.

Oh yes - I'd forgotten about that! Don't have the mezze for two unless you want to be so full that you can't move. It even defeated my dp, who has hollow legs.

Sorrento was very nice when we visited last year.

Aladdin's for Indian
Salt for fine dining
Rooftop bar at RSC for cocktails
Vitner for bistro-style food
The Encore for pub food (posh-ish pub food, not cheap and cheerful)
Cox's Yard - a few options down by the river
Boston Tea Party for brunch
Giggling Squid for lunch - the Thai Tapas is excellent value (I think it's expensive for what it is for dinner, but great for lunch)

The MAD museum is a great antidote to all things Shakespeare!

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 19/09/2022 07:53

Thanks for all the recommendations!

Personal favourites are lambs, the oppo and Edward moon. Or if you're up for travelling out of town the baraset barn or the bridge in Bidford on Avon. However I did move a few years ago so not up to date with newer restaurants.

But they're going to Stratford 😉😁

stockpilingallthecheese · 01/10/2022 15:06

Lambs, the oppo and the vintner all on sheep street - I know they all used to have the same owner, not sure these days!

mrsrobin · 06/10/2022 07:31

Another vote for El Greco if you like Greek

EnjoyTheSlopes · 25/10/2022 21:49

Where did you go?

The Boat House is good. Also the Encore.

macshoto · 10/11/2022 14:39

I can recommend Salt - very competent, if not especially innovative 1* Michelin.
