Could anyone tell me the best way to get from Kings Cross to London Victoria this morning?

Tickets work have given me have me arriving at KX at 9.31 and getting on my next train at 9.31 which I'm worried I won't make.

The train they've put me on takes over 40 mins but Google says I can get on the Victoria line from St Pancras and it will only take 11 minutes.

What's the difference between KX St Pancras and St Pancras International? Help!!!

Tube. Victoria Line.

Stopsnowing · 07/09/2022 06:09

Kings cross and st Pancras are next to each other but it will still take a good 15 minutes to go between them

Stopsnowing · 07/09/2022 06:10

Yes the victoria line is the best bet

St Pancras is Kings Cross on the Victoria Line. Just a few minutes further walking - it's really well signposted.

Google tfl plan a journey

St Panc & KX are the same tube station. Take the Victoria Line as others have said, it's about 5 stops.

tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey/

Will help you.

Some station in London have two names, why I don't know. I'm currently thinking of Bank and Monument station. I haven't needed to touch in and out before.

Then there is the new Elizabeth line, that I discovered over the summer holidays. You have to touch in and out (paying more money), even when you are using the same station. I'm talking about Custom House station. I had to get off dlr, touch out, then touch in to use the Elizabeth Line.

If you get off at kings cross- follow the sign for the underground and get the Victoria line southbound it’s 4 stops. Tubes will be really regular but will be busy as it’s rush hour. If you panic there are TFL people everywhere at that time and they will know that route really well so just ask.

Kings Cross St Pancras is a station with mainline trains which arrive and depart from outside London and the tube which connects London but it's all connected and as a pp said very well sign posted.(St Pancras International will be for the platforms which serve the Eurostar trains ) It may take 10 min walk to get from your train platform to the Victoria line tube platform. but yes the Google estimate of 11 min sounds about right for the tube journey KX to Victoria. And at that time in the morning they go every 1 or 2 minutes.

Good advice OP. There is also a great app called city mapper I use.

You put in where you want to go and it will tell you the quickest route at that time via walking/bus/tube etc plus directions.

I don't understand this? It takes all of two minutes to walk from SP to KX and you don't have to leave the station.

PPs are right about taking 10 minutes to get from KX to Victoria but you're not going to catch a train that leaves from Victoria at the same time yours arrives in KX surely.

If you don't have an Oystercard, it's worth setting up a direct or credit card on the TfL website for contactless payment so you don't have to waste time getting tickets.

Thanks for your help everyone, very much appreciated! 🙏

You can use contactless without setting up a TfL account in case this puts anyone off! The account is useful for tracking your journeys and costs but you can also do it retrospectively and as long as you used the same card it’ll be on there. But you don’t need one at all.

Clymene · 07/09/2022 07:53

If you have a phone or a debit card you touch in and out at the start and end of the journey.

It's about a 5 min walk from kx to the Victoria line platform but it's well signposted and you don't need to go outside.
