Any recommendations for good places to eat? Both for evenings and in the day?

Good things to do? I fancy the home for retired horses and DP is a railway nut so will do all the trains and the large wheel. Anything else?

Thanks for any tips!

If you can, try and walk up Snaefell (pick a clear day as the views are amazing). If you don’t fancy the walk, take the electric railway.
The Manx Museum is such a fascinating place to visit to learn about the heritage and it’s free.
The Steam Railway is definitely worth a ride. I would recommend planning your journey to start mid morning and hop on and off the train to view all the other places along the route and end in Port Erin, where there are a few main attractions that you can visit if you plan a walk; the Calf of Man lighthouse, Castle Rushen and Mull Hill. Then have a late dinner and enjoy the sunset views.
Ride the tram to Ramsey and spend an afternoon wandering the streets before grabbing a bite to eat.
For places to eat, I’d recommend The Little Fish Cafe (despite it’s name, it serves evening meals. The menu isn’t huge but there’s something for everyone), Noa Bakehouse, Just Pizza and Pasta, The Boatyard Restaurant and The Tea Junction.

There is a short walk up Snaefell - park by "The Bungalow" and take the footpath. Its not too taxing and you can get the tram back if you have had enough.

There is a cafe at the South end of the Island overlooking the Calf Of Man which is a great view.

We really liked Peel but not so much Ramsey.

The steam and electric railways are great.

The Sound cafe is worth it for the views (and you need to try out queenies, bacon and garlic while you’re there). There are usually seals hanging out in the Sound. Apparently there’s a new cafe in Laxey beach which serves good food. The Laxey wheel is being renovated - not sure that it’s been finished yet. If the weather’s fine, fish and chips on the beach in Pt Erin is good - get them from the chippy in the town. You can also walk up Bradda Head and there is a restaurant/cafe at the bottom which again has good views and the food was good last time I went there.

if you’re planning on doing the museum’s + Manx, Laxey Wheel, Castle Rushen, Cregneash etc you can but a pass that covers all of them. I think if you’re a member of the National Trust you can get free entry. Enjoy!
