London recommendations for 8&10 year old boys-preferably involving Supercars!

Hi so we are visiting London (from NI) on Sunday until Wednesday with 2 boys 8 & 10. We were there at Easter & did the Eye, Thames river cruise, Tower of London & Natural History museum. We won't do any of those again. Will probably do London Dungeons this time, we are booked to go to Lords, Sky Garden & Coppa for dinner.
2 boys are car mad....the fancier the better! Where is the best place to see cars. Anything to do with cars anyone could recommend. We want to spend as much time outside as possible as weather looks great....& weather always 🤬in NI!!!
Hoping there will be random fun activities to do in the main tourist areas since schools will be off. We are staying in Hampstead. Any must do recommendations welcome! Thank you 😀

All the fancy cars seem to be parked along New and Old Bond Street.
I know you want to do things outside, but the London Transport Museum is excellent, especially the Future Engineers gallery www.ltmuseum.co.uk/visit/museum-guide/future-engineers It’s in Covent Garden and there are always lots of street performers at this time of year. Also in Covent Garden, there’s a big Apple store which holds free workshops, some of which are aimed at kids www.apple.com/uk/today/coventgarden/
There are some summer holiday events at Hamleys on Regent Street. Most of them seemed to be dinosaur themed this year.
101 Dalmatians is the musical at Regent’s Park open air theatre this year.

Go for a swim in the mixed pond on Hampstead Heath. Fun outdoor swimming. Check the website for times you can just turn up and swim as you need to book for some parts of the day.

The Park Lane car garages are quite fun for kids that love cars

Outside Harrods over the summer - loads of obnoxious super cars! It does get busy but I imagine car mad boys would love it

I grew up in central London. Walking down Park Lane and looking at the cars, then getting a bar of chocolate and a newspaper from one of the big hotels was one of our favourite things to do on a Sunday morning! Then up through Mayfair to be amazed at the riches!

Mercedes’ World

Not in London, but in Surrey, you could consider this for another visit.

Also, Brooklands museum, if you do decide to trek to Mercedes world, it's right beside MW.

As everyone has said for fancy cars just walk along park lane and the high street in knightsbridge. There is also a lambourghi dealer opposite the tube station in South kensington.

Take a look at the wonder lab at the science museum, all very interactive exhibits. Just sus out whether the 10yo might be a bit old for it maybe?
London transport museum is also really great.

Southbank could be a good spot for a wander and lunch or dinner, lots of the family restaurants like wagamamas etc. They often have family activities and buskers along the river there.

Have you been to the Olympic Park? The velodrome has a bmx dirt track thing outside which my nephews love (not sure if it's byo bike??) The commonwealth games had some races there so check it's open again.

Another great family cycle is in Richmond Park, there are a couple of cycle hire places. Huge park, deer etc.

Battersea park has a new adventure playground, high ropes course (go ape) and mini golf with a pizzeria.... could be a nice morning outside!

Have a fantastic Time!!

So if you’d like to see super cars on a Sunday you need to sit down and camp out on Sloane street. There is a good corner between pont and Sloane where you will see lots of super cars. On a Sunday they sometime park up on Sloane street

The park lane hotels and around Harrods. We saw a koensagg? Outside the Dorchester. My son was so happy!
My inlaws live in NI and also think London is so tropical.
You could try a lido at Brockwell/Tooting, Greenwich is lovely and the old brewery is a great pub in a park so plenty of space for kids.

Doveyouknow · 04/08/2022 11:16

Berkley Square is also a good hang out for spotting cars. If you want to use the mountain bike trail at the Olympic park you can hire bikes. The BMX track is also great but you need to do an intro course so would have to pre book. There is a lido at Parliament Hill as well 😊

No good for a trip to London but there's a great car museum in Somerset and where I live (literally my balcony) it's brilliant for super car watching. It's beyond my comprehension why someone would own one of them and live in an apartment but they do (by marina)

alwaysmovingforwards · 04/08/2022 21:31

Goodwood is not far from London.

Newjobformoremoney · 07/08/2022 16:37

OP if you’re reading this there is a super car meet up on Sloane street. Right by pont street.

Smallinthesmoke · 07/08/2022 16:44

There is usually some kind of fancy car parked in the Microsoft shop window on Oxford Circus. I went past last week and kids were sitting in it for photos, it wasn't a supercar this time but some kind of very fancy military or gaming (?) vehicle.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/08/2022 17:09

When I was a child (1970s/80s) all the fancy cars and motor bikes used to meet on Chelsea Bridge one Saturday evening a month. I used to walk up with my dad (I grew up 5 mins away). Does this still happen? I’m not suggesting for the OP, just out of nostalgic curiosity.

MakingNBaking · 07/08/2022 17:42

I think the Chelsea Cruise now takes place on the last Sat of the month on the bridge and along Kings Road.
You could also look at what's on at the Ace Cafe during your trip. (I note there is a Ford Capri day on 27th...interesting.)
