Travelling into London from West Midlands - best place outside of centre to park and get bus/tube

Got a show and hotel booked for the family in a couple of weeks. Have left it late to book trains, which are now eye-wateringly expensive. Also train strikes are looking to affect trains the days we go. So looking at driving to somewhere on the outskirts and either tubing or bussing it in. Any suggestions? 😊

Stanmore. Not far from the end of the M1 and on the Jubilee line. There's a car park at the station (not sure of costs) but also some free street parking not too far away.

We did it from Letchworth a couple of times which worked really well.

We usually drive down to Ickenham station and get the tube from there.

I used to goto Stevenage and park in the big carpark by the station.

Stanmore, it's something like £5 to park all day then get the tube in.

I’m not sure what route you’ll take, but if you will be on the easterly end of the M4 at all then I can recommend parking at Osterley tube on the Piccadilly line. Cheap to park and I’ve never found it full, and it’s all the way in on the tube, which is cheaper than a local train. I haven’t done it for a couple of years so check on the boundary of the congestion charge zone first - it used to be just outside, but it’s possible that has changed in the meantime.
